Pistol Silhouette April 7, 2012 By: Bret Stuntebeck
We had 8 shooters show this month putting 19 guns across the line. Weather forecast was for partial sun, which is exactly what we got. Temps got into the mid 50’s. What a great day for shooting silhouette. We had one new shooter this month. Ron Craig came out to shoot with us. Ran had shot back in the late 80 early 90’s and had given me a call a few months back asking for details on the match and started getting his equipment together and was able to make this month’s match. Welcome back Ron. Well, on to the results of the match.
On the Big Bore side there was only one 40 this month posted by myself in UAS. I was shooting my XP-100, 6TCU that I got back last month from having re-barreled. I had gotten a little load testing done but did not have any sight settings. After getting roughed in on the sighters I managed a UAS-Int, 40 without much trouble. I decided what the heck and re-entered in UHSAS and managed a 36. Need a little fine-tuning on the sight settings but 3 of the missed I can say “if the dot isn’t on the target your not going to hit it. That leaves the one remaining miss that where the sight setting were good enough for full size but not quite for the ½ scale turkeys. Joe Stumpf posted a U-AAA, 34 this month shooting his XP-100 in 7BR. The turkeys got the best of him this month only hitting one on the first bank but then cleaning the second bank. Vince Leete posted a nice P-Int, 37. Steve Bishop posted a respectable P-AAA 34, and R-AAA 31. Nice shooting Vince and Steve. Brian MacConaghy came out to shoot with us this month and posted a very nice US-AAA 34. In Half scale Doug Forsyth posted a U-AAA, 27 and a UHSAS-Int, 37 eeking me out by one. Nice shooting Doug.
On the Small Bore side Vince Leete posted a couple of outstanding scores. The first a U-AAA, 39 and the second a P-AAA 37. Nice shooting Vince. I managed to post a pretty decent S-AAA 26 and even turned one pig.
There was only one FP shooter this month. Joe Stumpf posted a PAS-AA, 19. The scores are heading back up Joe, nice shooting.
Our target setters did their usual fantastic job. Until next time shoot straight and be safe. |
